The laboratory has been given a central and distinctive role in science education. Most teaching scientists automatically, perhaps instinctively, assume that laboratory instruction will be a part of any science-oriented course to be taught. Any successful theory of learning chemistry through laboratory instruction should match the attributes of the successful education of chemistry graduate students
